The Círculo de Puerto Rico, Inc. (CPRI) is really excited to announce the creation of the Education Grants and Scholarships Fund and awarding of a Norma M. Holmes Education Grant to a post-graduate psychology student at Virginia Tech.  The CPRI Education Grants and Scholarship Committee, composed by Mariel Ocasio (Chairman), David Holmes, Chelsea Holmes, Gilta Casanova Engman, and Carl Shirley, has collaborated with the Holmes family on the establishment of the Norma M. Holmes Education Grant.

 

Mrs. Norma M. Holmes was a long-standing member of CPRI, who sadly passed away on May 24, 2021.  As a bilingual (Spanish/English) psychotherapist, she specialized in individual, couples and family therapy, and severe and persistent mental issues.  With over 25 years of clinical experience in private and government settings, and as a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Carlos Albizu University, The Fielding University, and Virginia Tech University, she served as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients.  “Your quality of life was enhanced by her genuine warmth, her bright smile, and acceptance for everyone,” said David Holmes, Norma’s husband.  CPRI honors Norma M. Holmes’ legacy by naming an education grant and awarding it to a post graduate psychology student, who is working towards achieving a doctoral degree in Psychology.
