Every September, the baseball community honors Roberto Clemente Day. As Danny Torres mentions in one of the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s articles. Roberto left a remarkable legacy that is closely associated with his integrity, kindness, and charitable work. Fans and admirers continue to remember this generous spirit, whether in his adopted city of Pittsburgh, his homeland of Puerto Rico, or even in Nicaragua. Not only for being a distinguished baseball player known as “The Great One,” or being part of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973, but also for all the work, influence over his life to advocate for humanitarian causes. The character and profound strength of this beloved figure were enhanced after that tragic conclusion in Nicaragua. Clemente's impact went beyond baseball, touching the hearts of countless people.[1]
Nayda Forteza, CPRI president, expressed that "We, members of the Circulo de PR, Inc. in the Washington, District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, proudly proclaim our commitment to upholding Roberto Clemente’s values of excellence, compassion, and charitable work as we celebrate Roberto Clemente Day in the DMV."
